The last thing you want to happen when you’re changing your printer cartridge is for it to spill on you. If you have ever had to change ink cartridges or toner before, chances are you have had the misfortune of getting it on your hands. Don’t panic! We have listed some of the best remedies that will be sure to get printer ink off of your hands and out of your clothes or carpet.
- Tea tree oil – This all-natural product works wonders. Soak a clean cloth in rubbing alcohol and wipe on the affected area. You may need to use a fingernail brush to scrub them off your skin if the ink does not wash off instantly. Repeat until you see the ink come off your skin.
It does have a strong distinctive odour, so you may want to use it in a well-ventilated area. - Rubbing alcohol – A common household item to use is rubbing alcohol. Use a cloth or tissue paper to wipe the toner ink off your skin but be sure to use lotion afterwards as rubbing alcohol may dry out your skin.
- Glass cleaner – If you have a window cleaner spray it on the affected area as soon as possible and then wipe it with a tissue paper or a towel. Try not to let the ink dry as it gets more difficult to remove.
- Hair spray – Use hair spray onto the affected areas, let it sit for a few seconds while it dissolves the toner or ink then wash it well afterwards.
- Baby oil – The oily texture breaks down the toner or ink stains on your skin and leaves your skin soft to touch.
- Nail polish remover – Use a nail polish remover but be careful that you’re only using it on your skin to remove the ink. Move away from furniture as it may damage its finish.
- Bleach – Mix 1 part bleach to 10 parts of water and use a cloth to rub the stain off the affected area. Wash with soap and water thoroughly. You can squeeze an orange or lemon to remove the smell of the bleach off your skin. Please note bleach should be used with caution.
